Akua'ba - To the Point

​

My third choice of "Venus" is Akua'ba, actually a Ghanaian fertility figure, originally carved in wood. The theme is the same: plastic pollution that suffocates life. Its effects on the future: By entering the food chain, entering into our own bodies, disabling it to function as it should.

I wish I could make my paintings less "busy", but find this impossible, as I feel that our world has lost its focus, the priorities are out of sync: Nothing is simple or easy to decode in this 21st century, so I make the canvas suffocate in lots of meanings or meaningless details.
And all that time we have been speeding towards disaster, that should be acted upon as first priority.
