Nature with a Cup
I mix elements of a peaceful summer morning at the
seaside into a segmented, dissociated composition on
pollution.
I can’t show the beauty of this world without showing the devastating effects of our desire for comfort, and remarking on the careless way we are chasing it at all
costs. I tried to express this idea by breaking up a more
natural composition.
Visually uniting the cup - representing a moment of contemplation, peace, and the lovely aroma of morning - with the image of seagulls - that evoke fierce food-grabbing on seaside promenades: hunger and
aggression, a struggling wildlife.
The colours are associated with sunset and summery seas, however, the fish are only there in a negative form: like shreds of memory about a long forgotten time.
