"The ever-changing environment had a great impact on my life and my way of looking at things. Although my pictures usually involve ‘close ups’ of my surrounding environment, they often carry quite a different and symbolic meaning (or feeling) that occurred to me during the process of painting. I hope to give some depth to my virtual snapshots. However, I don’t want only to express or describe serious thoughts. On the contrary, I believe that art should be enjoyable, even if it carries something that might have great importance, at least to me.”
Orsi Cowell-Lehoczky was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1972.
She was about 16 years old when she began to take (visual) art seriously, by attending her first art courses. Later on curiosity drove her to study professional photography. Followed by her studies at the University of Fine Arts in Budapest (1993 - 1998), in 2000 she received a Master’s degree as a graphic artist. During her university years Orsi turned from pure monochrome ways of art towards the use of colours in her silkscreen prints.
After the master’s degree, she chose oil painting as her preferred medium, although she is experimenting with acrylic also. Orsi plays with big shapes of contrasting colour in her pictures as an important part of the composition. Although she has never been able to abandon her earlier interest in the more graphical approach. Line drawing still has an important role in her work.
Since 2001, she has been on the move.
She lived in Romania, Greece, and then in the UK, with two short breaks in Thebes, Egypt. There she worked for a Hungarian excavation run by ELTE University, Budapest.
In the spring 2007 Orsi moved to Switzerland with her family, where now she seems to re-establish herself succesfully as an artist once again.

"A körülöttem folytonosan változó környezet igen nagy hatással van életemre, a világról alkotott képzetemre. Képeim általában a közvetlen környezet lenyomatai, sokszor egy másik “jelen”, az alkotás közben megélt érzések szimbolizmusát hordozva. De minden komoly gondolatiság mellett én hiszek abban, hogy az alkotó művészet igenis legyen élvezetes (az alkotó számára),és élvezhető (a néző számára)."
Cowell-Lehoczky Orsi 1972-ben született Budapesten.
Képzőművészettel komolyabban úgy 16 évesen kezdett el foglalkozni, kezdve különböző szakkörökkel (Benedek György szobrászművészével többek között), illetve a Práter utcai Szakmunkásképző Intézet fotográfus szakával. A Magyar Képzőművészeti Egyetem grafika szakán végzett 1998-ban, majd ugyan itt elvégezte a 2 éves Mesterképzőt. Az egyetem évei alatt fordult a monokrómtól a színes nyomatok készítése felé.
Az egyetem befejezése után az olaj lett elsődleges médiuma, bár akrillal is kísérletezik olykor. Képein fontos szerepet játszik a forma csakúgy, mint a szín. Minthogy vonzalma az ábrázoló "grafikaisághoz" még mindig erőteljes, a vonalas ábrázolásnak szintén kiemelt szerep jut alkotásain.
2001-ben költözött el magyarországról. Élt Románia fővárosában, Görögországban, illetve Angliában, dolgozott / lakott az ELTE által támogatott tébai ásatások egyikén, Egyiptomban. 2007 tavaszán költözött Svájcba családjával, ahol sikeresen folytatja művészeti munkásságát.
